In early February, Jamie Briesemeister, Co-Founder and CEO of Integration Controls, headed to Orlando to see what Design & Construction Week–a combination of the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS 2022) and the International Builders Show (IBS 2022)—had to offer. Aside from inspiring and educating builders and kitchen & bath designers, she wanted practical concepts for our local clients here in St. Louis, Missouri, and the surrounding areas.
She sought products and initiatives that combine the best of smart home technology and design, and ones that were not just ideas but can actually be used in projects today for our St. Louis homeowners / clientele.
Without further ado, here is Jamie’s Design & Construction Week roundup of news and views from the shows. (See a complete slideshow of this exciting week on Facebook.)
Homeowners and Designers, great news! CEDIA (the global trade association for companies that design, manufacture, and integrate technology in the home) and KOHLER announced a partnership at KBIS 2022 to connect integrators to opportunities in Kitchen and Bath!
As a CEDIA member, we are honored to have access to this inventive program that bridges the gap between great technology and the reality of its implementation. Now we can further support the St. Louis design community and luxury client base with KOHLER’s amazing and popular product line.
At IBS 2022, Jamie had the opportunity to talk to builders and designers about the importance of smart technology and planning for it early in the homebuilding process. She also discussed home technology solutions that bring value in how they create personal, financial, health, and resale benefits. One big takeaway for our local St. Louis area customers? Align with home builders who also recognize the value of tech-enabled homes for greater comfort, convenience, and efficiency. Additionally, get the proper wiring before you build! It’ll make life easier. (Jamie onstage pictured at top of the page.)
We’ve been hearing about smart water in the home for many years, and it has mostly been a concept without practical implementation. At Design & Construction Week, however, Moen delivered with its Smart Water Network at the heart of its booth. The company demonstrated the peace of mind that comes from controlling and connecting with your water. With live leak demonstrations and even a real flooding sump pump, they showed visitors its Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff and Smart Sump Pump Monitor, all with real-time notifications through the Moen Smart Water App. These products don’t have to be used together to work, but can be implemented separately. See how it works.
Our business is in delivering simplified home technology which can - and does - have a visual impact. Yet - smart home technologies are becoming more difficult to live without! For many of our St. Louis-area clients, a consistent WiFi signal is one of those things, especially in homes where dense materials like concrete, metal or stone interfere - or in large homes that cover a large footprint.
The solution? Wireless Access Points (WAPs) that extend the wireless coverage of an existing network and router. The problem? These units are not always pretty to look at. Enter WALL-SMART, who showed in-wall/in-ceiling mounts for WAPs that simply hide the device in the wall, and without affecting performance - for new construction and retrofit. This is a real problem solver!
WALL-SMART also showed in-wall enclosures for the popular Sonos soundbars, Lutron keypads, security cameras, touchpanels, and much more. This is a very cool company making innovative and design-forward solutions to hide technology - and we love it!
Jamie Briesemeister, Integration Controls, is getting excited about the prospect of a custom solution for a project currently in design. Michael Ben-Dor, Wall-Smart, is engineering in his head… This is collaboration!
